This is the ninth of the 100 Upa Parvas (Sections), situated in Adi Parva, the first of the 18 Maha Parvas (Books) of the original Mahabharata composed in Sanskrit by Vyasa.
This Upa Parva describes the killing of Rakshasa Hidimba by Bhima, Bhima's marriage to Rakshasi Hidimba, the birth of Ghatotkacha and the Pandavas heading towards Ekachakra, to live in disguise, based on the advice given by Vyasa, their grandfather.
